Meet the Administrative Team

Hamilton Township High School Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

Ranger Family,

My name is Matt O’Hearn. Prior to joining the HLSD family, I was a social studies teacher and coach at Northland HS in Columbus, OH from 2001-2005 and Northmont HS in Clayton, Ohio from 2005-2007.  I joined the HLSD staff in 2007 as a social studies teacher for HTHS. During my time with the district, I have served in multiple roles such as AP Government Teacher, Social Studies Co-Chair, Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal. I am now entering my second year as HTHS Principal.

I  received my undergraduate degree from Otterbein University and my masters degree from the American College of Education.

My dad is a retired social studies teacher and has been a huge influence in my life. I remember visiting his classroom and attending extracurricular activities as a kid. I wanted to work in education because it is the building blocks of everything that we do in society. My time in school taught me how to learn, persevere, set goals, laugh, cry, have fun, and problem solve. My wife is also involved in education. She is a social studies teacher in Columbus City Schools. My drives to and from work typically involve talks with her that are centered around education.

Outside of the school day,  I coached for 22 years at the middle school and high school levels. Sixteen of those coaching years were spent at HMS and HTHS. I currently coach my kids’ youth sports including track and basketball.  I enjoy running and watching the Rangers, Bengals, and Buckeyes. I have been married to my wife Brandy for 18 years and have two sons, Evan is 13, and Ryan is 9. I also have a goldendoodle named Charlie.

I can’t wait to see what the students accomplish this school year with the support of the staff, parents/guardians, and the community.

Never hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns (614) 491-8044 ext.1802.

GO RANGERS!

Best Regards,

Matt O’Hearn

Ranger Families,

My name is Jessica Wills and I joined the Hamilton Local School District in 2009 to teach 7th grade Math at Hamilton Middle School. During my time at the Middle School I served as Department Chair and was named Teacher of the Year in 2011.  In 2017, I transitioned to Hamilton Township High School to teach Algebra and work with building administrators in an administrative support role. In addition to these responsibilities at HTHS, I was a Vertical Team Member and a New Teacher Mentor. I was named High School & District Teacher of the Year in 2017. In 2021, I was named the assistant principal at Hamilton Elementary School, helping guide our K-3 students and after that school year, I returned to HTHS to serve as the Assistant Principal. Outside of the school day, I can be seen at various events throughout the district. I have previously been the head coach for our Middle School Track & Field program, have participated as an athletic department event manager, and was the advisor for the Class of 2021.

I earned a Masters of Education with a focus in Teaching & Learning from The Ohio State University in 2010 and earned a second Masters of Education with a focus in School Leadership from Concordia University Chicago in 2016.

I am very excited for the opportunity to help lead HTHS and work with the students and staff. I am grateful to everyone in our district and community for helping me grow as an educational leader. I look forward to working with our families and community to help all of our Rangers succeed!
