About Our District
Welcome To Hamilton Local Schools
Our school district currently counts its enrollment at more than 3,100 students. This total does not include nearly 170 children that are enrolled in our Hamilton Preschool facility. Children from the Southern Franklin County communities of Village of Obetz, Village of Lockbourne, Reese, Hamilton Township, and Shadeville are educated in our schools.
We are thankful that you are taking the time to learn more about our outstanding school district. Hamilton Local School District has been educating students since it was established in 1842. Over the past 175 years, our students have graduated and gone on to lead productive lives in many avenues.
We have alumni who have become doctors, lawyers, and military heroes. We have alumni who have become successful business owners, professional athletes, and even an Air Force One pilot. We have alumni who have become successful farmers, tradesmen, and law enforcers. Our graduates have always been prepared to take the next step in their lives and be successful in any path they choose.
Please take a moment to read the stories below and learn more about the history of our school district. We are a very proud school district that works hard to educate every student and prepare them for success once they have graduated and earned their diploma.
Also note our district's academic accomplishments from recent years in the column to the right.

George Cole Audio Files from 1942
Several years ago Homer Beard called Mike Morbitzer at Hamilton Township High School and explained that he had some George Cole audio reels that he had converted to files on a compact disc. Knowing the deep love and admiration that a few thousand HTHS alumni had for Mr. Cole, Mr. Morbitzer knew that if Mr. Beard had what he said he had then Mr. Cole's former students could hear their favorite teacher's voice for the first time in decades. A short while later, Mr. Beard delivered one of the greatest donations we have received into our HLS archives.
In these extraordinary audio files we hear from Mr. Cole (the eighth grade class advisor), the eighth grade valedictorian and salutatorian, and many students from familiar Hamilton families. We hear remarkable descriptions of what was happening close to home, in Ohio, and far beyond our state borders. Be sure to listen to the band play the fight song, alma mater, and a few other familiar musical pieces. Enjoy Homer Beard's donation for a unique understanding of our history and for the special joy of hearing from a beloved Hamilton icon.
