The Hamilton Local Schools Transportation Department handles the transportation needs of students between home and school and on school and extracurricular trips. Our team is made up of 13 regular route drivers, two mechanics, a department secretary, and the department coordinator. Transportation Services also relies on a number of substitute drivers to fill vacancies much like a substitute teacher in the classroom.
We currently operate 19 daily routes, maintain 25 total buses, and transport more than 2,000 students on average each day. Our buses together travel over 120,000 miles a year. Most of our routes involve serving our high school, middle school, intermediate, elementary, and preschool buildings. The entire Transportation Department team is committed to creating, fostering and maintaining safe, efficient, and proper school bus environments for all students and staff.
Please take an opportunity to view our 2023-2024 bus transportation route information on the side information bar.

Many of your children are transported to and from school by bus. Our primary concern is the safety of each child. Every child will be assigned a seat, and as they board the bus they are to go directly to their seat, sit down, keep their hands and feet in their own space, and talk quietly.
If all children follow these procedures, there should be no problems and the bus ride should be safe for everyone. Your child may lose transportation privileges for violating any part of the student code of conduct and may receive additional disciplinary action. Transportation will then become the parents’ responsibility. Students must follow this code of conduct, as well as parents. Parents, please refrain from getting onto the bus. It is a violation of federal law for a parent to enter a bus without having a background check and approval by the Superintendent. All situations can be handled by calling our department at 614-491-8044 x1236.
Please remember that our bus stop arrival times are approximate, and we ask that you make plans to arrive about 10 minutes prior to the listed time to make certain your child doesn't miss the bus. As we begin the school year, please know that our buses could be running a few minutes behind schedule due to students getting used to their assignments, seats, and stops. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding while working with our transportation department.
Thank you,
Tami May
