Language Arts--Grade 4

Focus 1
Improve the students' performance when using evidence to support ideas and answers.
Focus 2
Improve the students' performance in comprehending literary texts, inferring accurately, and supporting from the text.
Focus 3
Improve the students' ability to gather and organize information in their constructed responses.

Language Arts--Grade 5

Focus 1
Improve how students quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
Focus 2
Improve the process students use to determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative language such as metaphors and similes.
Focus 3
Write informative explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

Language Arts--Grade 6

Focus 1
Improve students' performance by using context clues to interpret the vocabulary within an informational text.
Focus 2
Improve students' performance on inferencing using a literary text.
Focus 3
Improve student's ability to use text evidence in their writing/to support the prompt.

Math--Grade 4

Focus 1
Improve the students' performance on multi-step word problems requiring short answer and extended response.
Focus 2
Improve the students' performance of calculating whole numbers using all four operations.
Focus 3
Improve students' performance on fraction usage.

Math--Grade 5

Focus 1
Increase student knowledge of place value to the hundredths place calculating with all 4 operations in basic and word problems and explaining reasoning used.
Focus 2
Improve students' ability to solve word problems involving adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.
Focus 3
Demonstrate potential to recognize solid figures as volume questions and apply their knowledge of the volume formula when applicable.
Focus 4
Improve student performance in the Earth Sciences.

Improve student performance on Life Science questions.

Math--Grade 6

Focus 1
Improve the students' performance on solving multi-step ratio and equivalent ratio problems.
Focus 2
Increase the students' ability to understand what a question is asking and determine the appropriate response in multi-step questions and word problems.
Focus 3
Improve the students' performance on real world application that involves writing and solving problems with variable expressions and equations.

Science--Grade 4

Focus 1
Increase student familiarity and comprehension of State Science Assessments. 
Focus 2
We will improve student performance on Ecology and Biology focused 5th Grade Science Indicators 
Focus 3
Improve Student understanding of 5th Grade Light and Energy Indicators
Focus 4
Improve student's understanding of 5th Grade Sound Indicators to allow for 5th Grade Teachers more time for intensive instruction and review and less introduction. 

Science--Grade 5

Focus 1
Improve student knowledge of test related vocabulary so that they understand what each question is asking and how to properly answer each question.
Focus 2
Improve student performance and increase knowledge of how to run simulations on the state test.
Focus 3
Improve the students' performance on the Physical Science unit.

Social Studies--Grade 4

Focus 1
Analysis of charts, graphs, tables and relative location on maps.
Focus 2
Various groups of people have lived in Ohio including prehistoric and historic American Indians, migrating settlers and immigrants. Interaction among these groups have resulted in both cooperation and conflict.
Focus 3
Government including Human systems, civic participation, rules and laws androles and systems of government.

Social Studies--Grade 5

Focus 1
Improve the students' understand of how regions can be determined using various criteria (e.g., landform, climate, population, cultural or economic).
Focus 2
Improve students' ability to use longitude and latitude to to make observations about location and generalizations about climate.
Focus 3
Improve students' understanding of how information displayed in circle graphs can be used to show relative proportions of segments of data to an entire body of data.

Social Studies--Grade 6

Focus 1
Economists compare data sets to draw conclusions about relationships between them.
Focus 2
Variations among physical environments within the Eastern Hemisphere influence human activities. Human activities also alter the physical environment.
Focus 3
Modern cultural practices show the influence of tradition and diffusion, including the impact of major world religions.
