Hamilton Local School District is excited to announce the hiring of the new Public Relations Director, Michael Sutherland. Pending Board approval, Mr. Sutherland will assume full responsibilities on August 1st, 2023.
“After careful consideration, we believe Mr. Sutherland will be a perfect fit in his new role.” HLSD Superintendent Mark Tyler expressed. “He has an excellent understanding of our district, a fantastic track record as an educator, and undeniably strong relationships with our students, staff, and community.”
Michael Sutherland joined the Hamilton Local School District in 2016 where he spent two years working as a paraprofessional in our High School. From 2018-2021, Mr. Sutherland was one of our district technology specialists and at the start of the 2021 school year, he returned to the High School to teach business and serve as our Dean of Students. Mr. Sutherland is also starting his 8th year as the Head Varsity Coach of our boys soccer team and 10th year as an assistant on our boys Varsity basketball staff.
In 2018, Mr. Sutherland earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business and Social Sciences from Liberty University during which he also received his Alternative Teaching License for the State of Ohio. During the 2023 school year, he also received his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.
"I am so excited to begin this new role and to continue the excellent work that exemplified Mr. Payne and Mrs. Duncan’s time with Hamilton Township,” says Mr. Sutherland. “Almost every great thing about my life can be directly attributed to this incredible school district and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to work with such an awesome team who shares that same sentiment. I’m thrilled to get started!"
Mr. Sutherland will bring valuable perspective to his new role and we look forward to some exciting new initiatives he has planned.
