HLSD Announces Two Assistant Principals

Hamilton Local School District is excited to announce two new Assistant Principals for the 2023-2024 school year. Mrs. Melissa Seiler will be the Assistant Principal for Hamilton Elementary School, and Mrs. Jennifer Coalter will be the new Assistant Principal for Hamilton Middle School. Both AP’s will assume full responsibilities on August 1, 2023.

“These are two individuals that have worked in our district a long time and have proven themselves to be excellent educators.” says Superintendent Mark Tyler. “I am excited to see what they will bring to their new positions.”

Mrs. Melissa Seiler joined the HLSD family in 2009 as an Intermediate School teacher. She taught multiple subjects there, with a math focus until 2021. Then she transferred to the Middle School where she taught 7th-grade Math for one year, then moved right into the Assistant Principal role of HMS the following year. This will be her second year as an administrator for HLSD, where she will now be leading at the elementary level as the Assistant Principal.

Mrs. Seiler earned her degree in Middle Childhood Education from Capital University and her Master of Education in School Administration from Ashland University.

"I could not be more excited to continue my leadership role in our district at the elementary school level.” says Melissa Seiler. “My focus will be on making meaningful connections with the students and staff in our building and I am so grateful to serve alongside Mr. Rush to be a strong starting point for our community. Go Rangers!"

Mrs. Jennifer Coalter has been named the new Assistant Principal of Hamilton Middle School. Mrs. Coalter joined the HLSD family in 2001 as an Intermediate School teacher. She taught multiple subjects there, focusing on writing, reading, and science until 2012 when she moved to Hamilton Middle School to teach 7th and 8th grade intervention classes. In her time with HMS, Mrs. Coalter has also taught career exploration and math. This will be her first year as an administrator for the district.

Mrs. Coalter earned her degree in Education from Ohio Northern University, and received her Master of Education in School Administration from the University of Dayton.

“I am thrilled to have been selected as the Assistant Principal at Hamilton Middle School!” says Mrs. Coalter. “Working with middle school students and their families is my passion and I am looking forward to a great year!”

We look forward to a great year for Mrs. Seiler and Mrs. Coalter, and we can’t wait for our families to meet them at Open House on August 10!
