Major Changes to the
Community Service Requirement
According to the Ohio Revised Code (3313.605), we "may only grant high school credit for a community service education course if approximately half of the course is devoted to classroom study of such matters as civic responsibility, the history of volunteerism, and community service training and approximately half of the course is devoted to community service."
Our HTHS students are given the classroom study component of their community service course in ADVISORY, which meets most days of the school year during second period.
After studying all the volunteer information given in ADVISORY and using the resources available in the downloads and links sections of this webpage, students will take an assessment to account for the classroom component of our service credit.
The assessment will be required of all students, starting with the 2014 graduating class.
CSP has been updated
The Hamilton Township High School Community Service Project (CSP) Program Guide is updated and is available on this page. The new program guide will include details about the addition of a classroom study component during ADVISORY.
The CSP Program Guide is available as a PDF download. The guide describes each aspect of the CSP including an explanation of the service commitment; a service frequently asked questions section; and time sheets.
Click "CSP Program Guide" under "Downloads" on this page to access the guide.
