New Building Procedures for 2020-2021

HAMILTON INTERMEDIATE BUILDING PROCEDURES 


Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures ~ Beginning September 14, 2020


*Please read the following information regarding changes in Drop Off & Pick Up Procedures.  This information is extremely important for the safety of our students, parents, and staff. 


The school doors will open at 8:00a.m. Please do not drop your child off or allow your child to exit your vehicle earlier than 8:00a.m.  Children that walk to school should not arrive earlier than 8:00a.m. There is no supervision provided before that time.  


Drop Off Procedures

  • Parents/Guardians must stay in the far right lane of the drop off line at all times.  

  • For safety reasons, vehicles will not be permitted to park in a parking space at any time.

  • All students being dropped off by car must remain in the vehicle until directed by staff to exit at the front sidewalk. 

  • After being directed by a staff member to exit the vehicle at 8:00a.m., students will enter the building and report directly to their homeroom class.  

  • Grab and go breakfast bags will be available at the center hallway star for all students.


Pick Up Procedures

  • Parents/Guardians must stay in their vehicle and in the pick up line at all times.

  • Vehicles will not be permitted to park in a parking space at any time.

  • Students will begin to exit the building at 2:52p.m. and be directed by staff to a designated area.

  • If possible, please have a large sign visible in your windshield with your child’s first name, last name and grade level.  This will help us find your child and keep the pick up line moving as quickly as possible. 

  • Once your child is in your vehicle, you must remain in the far right lane of the pick up line to exit the parking lot.


The safety of our families and staff is of the utmost importance.  We ask that you please be patient as we work through implementing our new procedures. 

                                            

Safety

  • All students and staff are required to wear masks.

  • Students will be given mask breaks throughout the day.

  • Teachers and students will practice social distancing in all areas.

  • Signage on walls and floors will assist staff and students with social distancing and hallway patterns.

  • Handwashing will be promoted as a healthy habit.

  • Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes will be provided in each classroom for students and employees to use.


Breakfast/Lunch

  • All students may receive breakfast every morning once they arrive at school.

  • Students may eat their breakfast in their homeroom class.

  • Lunches will be delivered to students in the cafeteria.

  • All students will have breakfast and lunch delivered to their last period class to take home for their remote day(s) while in the 50/50 model.  


Recess

  • Students will go outdoors for recess when possible.

  • Recess will follow social distancing requirements.

  • Guided sessions will allow students to interact and be active in a safe environment.

  • Playground equipment and accessories will not be used.


Academic Instruction

  • Students will not change classrooms for instruction, except for band and physical education.

  • Teachers will rotate to the assigned classrooms. Students will be escorted to the gymnasium and band when necessary for instruction.
