All Seniors Will Take SAT on Wed., Sept. 23
Dear Parent/Guardian:

Last spring, high school juniors in the Class of 2021 were slated to take the state-funded administration of the SAT, a college and career readiness test. Due to COVID-19, that test date in the spring was canceled. However, we recently were informed that those students who were unable to test in the spring as juniors would be given the opportunity to take the test this fall as seniors.

We are excited that we will be able to offer this free administration of the SAT the morning of Wednesday, September 23rd to the Class of 2021. This is a great opportunity for our seniors to take a college and career readiness test at no cost to the student, in which they can also report their scores for any college or university application.

So what does this mean for your student?

If your student is a senior in the Class of 2021, they will be required to report to the high school at 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd, to participate in the test administration. This includes seniors that attend the high school, attend the career center, and are currently following the online option. Proper safety protocols will be put in place throughout the test day. Students will be able to leave after the test is completed if they have transportation arranged prior to dismissal. For those students that do not have alternate transportation, buses will run at the normal release time of 2:15 p.m.

If your student is a 9th, 10th, or 11th grader who attends classes at Hamilton Township High School on GREEN days, those students will not be required to report to school in person on Wednesday, September 23rd, but they will be required to complete any assignments posted in Google Classroom for each of their classes.

For our students that will be testing, here are some tips to help them do their best on the SAT:
* Get a good night’s sleep (at least eight hours).
* Eat a nutritious breakfast.
* Dress in layers (students do better if they do not have to think about how hot or cold they are).
* Be confident and supportive.

If you have any questions, please contact the high school main office at 614-491-8044 ext. 1800 or ext. 1801.

Sincerely,

Robert Lanthorn
Principal, Hamilton Township High School
