Mr. Matt O’Hearn, the current Assistant Principal for Hamilton Township High School, has been named the new Principal for Hamilton Township High School. He will assume full responsibilities on August 1, 2022.
“Mr. O’Hearn has spent a long time with the district - spending years as a teacher, then Dean of Students, and finally spending this last year as Assistant Principal,” HLSD Superintendent Mark Tyler explained. “He had a great opportunity this past year to learn under Dr. Conley. He has a student-centered focus and strong ability to build relationships with students. I have every confidence that Matt will excel in this position, as it is easy to trust and believe in him and follow his leadership.”
Mr. O’Hearn joined the Hamilton Local School District in 2007 as a Social Studies Teacher for Hamilton Township High School. During his fifteen years with the district, O’Hearn has served multiple roles such as AP Government teacher, Kids Voting Liaison, Social Studies Co-Chair, Dean of Students and most recently, Assistant Principal.
Mr. O’Hearn earned a Master's of Education from The American College of Education in 2014.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. O’Hearn has been the Head Hamilton Township High School Cross Country Coach since 2014. He has also served as a Varsity Assistant Track and Field Coach since 2009.
