VH1 Delivers Musical Gift To Intermediate School

On Friday, December 4, 2009, Hamilton Intermediate School received $30,000 in brand new band instruments thanks to VH1 Save the Music Foundation and Columbus-based Abbott Nutrition’s ZonePerfect brand.  This gift will support music education for 6th grade students for years to come, and serve to strengthen student success rates in other core curriculum areas.

Serving as special guests for the presentation ceremony, members of The Ohio State University Marching Band were on hand to perform a medley of their well-known songs including Hang On Sloopy, which allowed nearly everyone in attendance to proudly spell out O-H-I-O.  The Best Band In The Land also played alongside a group of current 6th grade band members for a rendition of the holiday classic Jingle Bells.

Ohio’s First Lady, Frances Strickland was also on had to deliver encouraging words to all of the intermediate students and show her support for music education.

Hamilton Intermediate School was the fourth school supported by the grant provided by Abbott Nutrition’s ZonePerfect.  Other schools in the cities that have benefitted through this partnership include Los Angeles, CA; Denver, CO; and Austin, TX.
