Young Writers Poetry Competition Winners

Congratulations to the Hamilton Township High School students who entered the Young Writers poetry competition last winter and were selected for publication!

The Young Writers poetry contest was designed to promote literacy and expression in students through writing. If the poem meets the merit guidelines of the editors who created the program, students have the opportunity to win publication of their poem in an anthology called Through Their Eyes

This contest was announced in the winter of the 2019-2020 school year. Over 5,000 students across the country submitted poems. This was Hamilton Township High School's first year participating and seven of our high school Rangers were chosen to have their poems published.

“I was blown away by the quality of poetry our Rangers produced last winter. Once COVID hit in the spring, I had thought this contest maybe also fell victim to it,” expressed Holly Heaton, English and Creative Writing Teacher for Hamilton Township High School. “It was with great surprise and happiness that I received a packet of acceptance letters for our Rangers who made the cut. Kieran, Grace, Iyanuoluwa, Bella, Jonna, Mallie, and Grace created beautiful poetry. Their words were insightful, heartfelt, and daring. I am beyond proud of our poets!”

Congratulations to the following students who were selected for publication:
