Meet Superintendent Tyler

My name is Mark Tyler, and I serve as the Superintendent for Hamilton Local Schools. I was hired in 2001 and I have served many roles in my time as a Ranger. I would like to share some info for you all to get to know me better!

On the academic side, I have previously taught health and physical education. I have also served in many administrative roles such as Middle School Assistant Principal, High School Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, and Assistant Superintendent. I've enjoyed every role I've played in the district, and I’ve been pretty lucky in my career.

In addition to working on the academic side of the district, I also spent a lot of time in athletics. I was the Head Track Coach for seven years and coached varsity football for six seasons. Some accomplishments I achieved during my time coaching were the following:

  • As a football coach, I was the Defensive Coordinator for two seasons, as well as Defensive Line Coach for the 2002 Mid-State League Champions and state playoff team. I coached 2012 Hall of Fame inductee Tarry Summers, who was twice named Mid-State League Defensive Player of the Year.

  • As Track Coach, my teams finished 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 8th in the state of Ohio; were Regional runners-up in 2003 and 2005; District Champs in 2005; Mid-State League Champions in 2005 and won the Shadyside Relays in 2007.

  • I was lucky enough to coach many talented athletes, and had student-athletes that won eight individual state titles and also had two relay teams that were state runners-up.

  • I coached 28 First Team All-Ohioans and six Mid-State League MVPs.

  • During my tenure, my athletes broke 14 school records, 9 Mid-state League records, posted the second fastest Division II girls' 4x100 relay time in state history, and 2012 HTHS Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Ashley Trimble broke the Division II state record in the 100 meter hurdles.

  • I was voted Central District Track and Field Coach of the Year in 2002, and earned Mid-State League Track and Field Coach of the Year in 2005.

  • I also coached the shot put and discus for the state’s all-star team for three years as well.

  • I was inducted into the HTHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013.

In addition, I participate in many professional organizations including the Central Ohio Superintendents Association, Buckeye Association of School Administrators, Central Ohio Compact Committee, and the School Superintendent Association. I also participate on the Board of Directors for META Solutions.

In my free time I enjoy working out, watching sports, and spending time with my family. I have been married to my wife, Karen, for 17 years and we have three children - Nathan, Natalie, and Noah.

I love working in this district! I have grown my career here and I wouldn’t have it any other way. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to my office and I would be happy to assist you.
