Board Unanimously Moves To Add Another Layer of District Safety
During Monday evening’s regularly scheduled meeting of the Hamilton Local Schools Board of Education, members voted 5-0 in favor of providing more safety for our students by adding a resource officer position.

“This unanimous vote shows our district’s top priority is a commitment to providing the best education in the safest environment possible, which is why we are always evaluating safety plans and protocols to determine how we can make our schools as safe as possible for our students, employees, and visitors,” Hamilton Local Superintendent Mark Tyler explained. “Our education process is superior. Now, our Board is providing our district with a resource officer to give us the ability to take safety and security to the next level.”

District officials will be meeting with safety officials from the Village of Obetz in the coming days to determine the next steps in filling the resource officer position.

“A resource officer was recommended to the board, not because we have issues with student behavior or anything like that, but because we always want to remain proactive instead of reactive in our approach to security,” Tyler said. “The resource officer will provide a sense of protection, security, and safety for all who visit our district knowing that the response rate to any potential incident will be minutes, if not seconds should the need arise.”

Once filled, the resource officer will have a primary presence in Hamilton Township High School, but will also visit all of our district buildings regularly.
