Former Hamilton Local School Board Vice President Passes Away
On Tuesday, October 4, 2016, former two-term Hamilton Local Schools Board of Education member, Catherine K. Jordan passed away. Mrs. Jordan served on the school board from January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2009, and held the title of Vice President of the Board for the 2008 calendar year.

Mrs. Jordan was instrumental in helping guide district leadership in turning around Hamilton Local’s academic performance, along with campaigning in support of the bond levy that saw three new schools being built for the students of Hamilton Local.

“Cathy was a champion for the children of our community in the fact that she was driven to see that they receive a competitive, 21st century education,” superintendent Bill Morrison shared. “She had a vision of what our students could achieve if given the tools and opportunities that their peers in other districts were offered, and she worked very hard to assist us in becoming one of Ohio’s most improved school districts.”

Mrs. Jordan was committed to being a strong board member by continually educating herself through the Board Leadership Institute and other board member developmental opportunities.

In her last meeting as a Hamilton Local board member, Mrs. Jordan addressed the audience and summed up her eight years representing our community.

“My tenure here has been such an awesome, awesome journey. I am so proud of this district. To have seen us gain four brand new schools, and to see these children become empowered for the 21st century, I couldn’t be happier. It’s been great to work with such an awesome set of leaders, administrators, community, and staff. To see us go from academic watch to excellent as a school district and reach 23 indicators, it takes a mighty set of people to do that, and to be part of that is major,” Jordan shared.

Mrs. Jordan wrapped up her remarks in one final statement.

“It’s always good to go out on top, right now we are on top because we made it happen. Best wishes to each one of you.”
