Everything In Art Is AWESOME - The 4th and 5th grade students at the Intermediate School are having an awesome time exploring self-portraits through the style lens of Lego figures! After discussing what makes a good self-portrait and different ways to show your personality in a portrait, the students traced a large template of a blank Lego figure and got to work! Looking at images of different Lego figures, faces, and accessories helped to make their self-portraits in a more simple "Lego" style. Watching the video of the song "Everything is Awesome" from the recent Lego movie was also a great inspiration and motivator for the students! They could choose to make the portrait of themselves in the present, or themselves in the future- doing their "dream job" (a few examples- nurse, dentist, singer, basketball player, and lawyer). The students put a lot of time and thought into their portraits; many show not only what they look like, but also show their hobbies, favorite activities or sports, as well as their unique personalities. Be sure to look for a few of these awesome self-portraits at the District Art Show on Thursday, April 30th!!
