Hamilton Township Musicians Perform in NYC's Carnegie Hall
Hamilton Township Musicians Perform in NYC's Carnegie HallThe award-winning All-Star Brass and Percussion is preparing for its second appearance at Carnegie Hall in New York City. This talented group of musicians, along with other world-class youth ensembles from Germany, Thailand, and California, recently performed in Carnegie Hall’s inaugural New York “Sounds of Summer” International Music Festival.

Quahhar Fletcher, Marcus McKinley, Michael Murphy, and Andrew Perna have been selected as members of this prestigious band and will represent Hamilton Township High School, Hamilton Local Schools, and our great community as they take center stage one of the world’s most widely known performance venues.

Founded by Dr. Eric W. Aho, the All-Star Brass and Percussion is the premier organization of its type. During its 28-year history, the group has earned a reputation for excellence, becoming the most awarded brass band organization in North America. The All-Stars have performed extensively throughout the Midwest, eastern United States, and Canada. Recent accolades to note include invitations to perform for the Ohio Music Education Association’s Professional Development Conference, the Hannaford Brass Festival in Toronto, and Carnegie Hall.

All-Star members represent approximately forty schools from eight central Ohio counties. They must be members in good standing of their school band programs and be nominated to audition by their school band directors or private instructors. The auditions are held in early November following the football/marching band season. All-Star Brass typically performs three concerts per season, which ends in early May. The band receives invitations to perform in a variety of venues, like Carnegie Hall, and its performances are scheduled around school responsibilities or summer activities.

Mr. Chad McGee is the Assistant Director of All-Star Brass and Percussion and is the Director of the Junior Varsity All-Star Band. He is an award-winning trumpet player who earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and his Master of Arts degree from Ashland University. Dr. Aho holds three degrees from The Ohio State University and serves as the Principal Euphonium of the Brass Band of Columbus.
