HT Rangers football beats Fairfield Union

The Rangers Varsity and JV football teams each beat MSL opponent Fairfield Union over the weekend.  The JV team won with a score of 39-16. The Varsity team throttled the Falcons 47-6. The defense was again stifling and gave Fairfield Union no hope of winning the game intercepting three passes on the night and forcing four fumbles, one of which was recovered by the Rangers.  Players recording interceptions for the Rangers were Peart, Denny, and Maynard and Kaden Kiser picked up the fumble. The leading tacklers on the night for the Rangers were Beverly with seven and five each for Gavin Dzodan, Ato Forson, and Malcolm Denny. Gavin Wilhite, Tyler Bornheim, and Brad Maynard all recorded a tackle for loss on the night.  Seth Conrad had a sack on the quarterback which resulted in a loss of eight yards. The Rangers destroyed the Falcons with a balanced attack offensively, rushing for 163 yards on 36 attempts and completing nine passes for 151 yards on the night. Baldwin carried twice on the night running for 20 yards and a TD, Brock McGuire rushed 13 times for 33 yards and a TD and Josiah Beverly had nine attempts for 19 yards and a touchdown.  Aamen Whitson had a late-game scamper breaking a tackle and taking the ball 76 yards for a touchdown. Brock McGuire completed 9 of 19 passes for 151 yards and threw touchdown passes to Maynard and Forson. Recording catches on the night were Max Petry with one, Malcolm Denny with three, Josiah Beverly with two, Brad Maynard with one and Ato Forson with two - One of which he jumped over a Falcon defender to pull the ball in and run for a touchdown.  The Rangers are on the road this week as they take on the Teays Valley Vikings this Friday Night.
