Note from Mr. Miller Regarding Upcoming Testing Information

Dear Parents and Students:

The 2015 Performance-Based Assessment administration of Ohio’s new state tests in science and social studies will be Friday, March 6th. The 2015 End-of-Year Test administration of Ohio’s new state tests in science and social studies will be Thursday, May 7th. First-time grade 9 students in school year 2014-15 are required to take the Physical Science test. Grades 10, 11, and 12 students in school year 2014-15 who are enrolled in an American History or American Government course during the spring semester must take the corresponding state tests due to the mandates in Amended Substitute Senate Bill 165. This bill requires the instruction and testing of the historic documents in American History and American Government. Therefore, all 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students enrolled in Physical Science, American History, and American Government will be required to take the corresponding tests. Districts expect to receive results of these tests in fall 2015.

Some tips to help the students prepare for the testing include:

  • Being present each day of testing.
  • Getting a good night’s sleep (at least 8 hours).
  • Eating a nutritious breakfast and lunch.
  • Dress in layers - students do better on tests if they do not have to think about how hot or cold they are.
  • Be confident and supportive.
During this test administration on March 6th, the schedule below will be followed to allow adequate time for the students to test. Any student NOT enrolled in Integrated Science 9, American History, and American Government will be dismissed at 12:15. Transportation will need to be arranged or students will be sent to study hall for the afternoon.
