Business Meeting Minutes

OPENING:
Welcome by Theresa (Shiver) Lehr, President, who thanked Boy Scouts of Troop 526 for their service in setting up for the banquet and Judy Lund, who has decorated for the past 4 years with the center pieces for the banquet tables. Theresa also thanked those who have supported her throughout her past four years in office, Al and Judy Bower, Helen Wilk, Tom Peters, Jimmy Browning, Rick and Trevia Diebel, Brian Lares, Linda (Hetenhouser) Dillman, Connie (Ringhiser) Callander, Ron Herron and her other friends.
Alumni who have served in the military, past and present, were then asked to stand for recognition. Alveta Foreman Egbert, Class of 1936, was also recognized as our oldest attending graduate. Theresa then introduced Vince Payne, Public Relations Director, and Mike Morbitzer, Assistant Principal, HTHS graduate and past Hall of Fame recipient.
SECRETARY’S REPORT:
Connie Callander, Secretary, read the secretary’s report of last year’s meeting, May 19. Minutes were approved and seconded as read. Connie also conducted the Roll Call of the Classes and recognized the 50th anniversary of the Class of 1964.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Ron Herron, Treasurer, provided financial detail for the fiscal year 5-1-13 through 4-30-14. The checking account balance as of April 30 was $7,787 before banquet expenditures, the savings account balance was $3,563, over $1,000 was donated to the library fund and $2,130 was donated to the scholarship fund.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:
Linda Dillman, Vice President, presented James Hopkins, the 2014 Scholarship award winner, who received a $2,200 scholarship. He is attending Capital University and majoring in music education. Twenty- two students submitted applications. Ron thanked everyone for their generous contributions and James said a special “thank you” to the alumni and offered his appreciation for the scholarship.
LIBRARY FUND:
Mike Morbitzer accepted a check from the association’s Library Fund for $1,050.00. Mike said the library purchased a World Encyclopedia Set and twenty-seven new books with our 2013 donation. He said students still like reading hardback book of 400 to 500 pages. There is a label that is placed in the books stating, “Purchased by the Hamilton Township Alumni Association”.
STATE OF THE SCHOOLS:
Vince presented the State of the Schools to the alumni and outlined how well Hamilton Schools are doing and that they are ranked high in the State of Ohio.
HALL OF FAME:
Theresa presented Larry Waller, Class of 1960 and our 2014 recipient, with a plaque and Ron gave him an alumni t-shirt. Larry thanked everyone who nominated and supported him when he accepted the award.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS:
Brian Lares, Class of 1960, chaired the election of officers. Theresa and Ron previously decided to resign and there were no nominations from the floor. Linda was elected President; Debra White, Class of 1974, was elected Vice President; Karen Cook, Class of 1964, was elected Treasurer and Connie Callander will continue to serve as Secretary.
The meeting was adjourned and members were then dismissed by their class year to the dinner held in the cafeteria.
