Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year, 5th graders! Later in the year, we will play the recorder. They usually cost $2.50. For now though, we are learning to sing various songs, play classroom instruments, and to read music.
If you would like to have more music to practice on your recorder, please download the Recorder Music packet from the downloads section on the right. You will need a program that can open pdf files.
Fifth grade music is a year-long course in which students will gain a basic understanding and appreciation for all types of music. Students will learn about many types of instruments, singing techniques, music reading skills and music from many cultures around the world.
Students can earn up to 1 point for each weekly music class based on their participation in the lesson. In order to pass music for the quarter, students must earn at least 60% of their total possible points. Students who are habitually absent on music days will see this reflected in their grade.
